Area Deaths 1980 – 2010
This searchable database contains over 280,000 names of people who died in Palm Beach County, plus the towns of Hobe Sound, Stuart, Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie and Okeechobee. A few former area residents who died elsewhere are included as well. The data was indexed from the "Area Deaths" (Death Notices) and "Funeral Notices" (Obituaries) in The Palm Beach Post and the date provided is the publication date, NOT the date of death. Some people appear in the obituaries but not in the Area Deaths. In a few cases the database indicates that there is a photo. The default answer is NO, so YES is a reliable answer but NO is not. So there may be a photo, even if the database indicates there is not.
The Death Notices for the years 1980 - 2010 are complete. Please note that due to font and paper quality, lower case L and I were very similar in appearance and may have been misinterpreted. If the name you seek has either of these letters in it and is not found when searching, try substituting the other letter if the name would still be pronounceable with the transposition. There is some inconsistency in data entry. Example: de la Campa is entered with the spaces in some cases, while in others it is not. On similar surnames you will need to search under both in order to do a complete search. When searching names with an apostrophe such a O'Brien, first search with the apostrophe and if need be, then without it. NOTE: For common surnames, you should add at least the first letter ofthe first name.
The Area Death articles are available for reference in our library as are obituaries from the same period at no charge. If you would like one of our librarians to research the record for you, please note there is a fee for this search regardless of the results. Please click on the Research Request Form on the menu to the left to download a Query Form. You may also pay for your query (research request) from the same window. Please understand that to avoid confusion, no research is done until payment is recieved.
